Message From the President
Dear members of Hindu Samaj of Hamilton and Region,
Finally, it seems like the Covid-19 restrictions are about to end. The last few months have been an intense roller coaster ride for most of us. Like everything else, these times will pass, and hope that life gets back to normal. Consequently, we plan to resume regular services in the Temple very soon.It has been my privilege to serve the Temple for over 45 years in various capacities and currently as president. I take this opportunity to thank the members of Hindu Samaj of Hamilton and Region for electing me as the President second time around. (2021-2023).
The new Board of Directors was duly elected at AGM on May 2nd.2021. The new Board members are, Mr. Ram Kamath, Mrs. Kiran Gupta, Mrs. Uma Sharma, Mr. Anand Verma, Mr. Jagjit Nayyar and Dr. Markad Kamath.
The past Board members under the leadership of Mrs. Kiran Gupta, has done admirable job in commencing the major project of renovating the interior of the Temple especially during the lockdown times. This turned out to be fortuitous as the Temple was closed due to provincial lockdowns and workers could work within the guidelines set by the Ontario government. It is anticipated that all the major work will be completed by the middle of August. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank all the members of the Hindu Samaj who donated generously towards running the Temple and the renovations. The following big items were sponsored by the devotees. All the gas burners in the kitchen by Mr. Sunny Khanna, flat top stove in the kitchen by Mr. Karn Malhotra, installation of hand dryers in the washrooms by Mr. Shailendra Sharma, High quality carpeting in the main hall, lower hall, shelving in the kitchen and pooja room upstairs and mirrors was generously funded by Mr. Ray Khanna. Over $10,000.00 was raised for renovations at the shanti path ceremony of late Mr. Shital Arora (Mr. Atul Arora’s father).
It would be nice if any devotee or devotees wish to sponsor the LED lighting project, approximately $13,000.
We eagerly await the arrival of Lord Balaji idol from Tirupati, Tirumala Temple, India, which has been offered to our temple. We thank Dr. Subramanian, Mr. Ram Kamath and Dr. Markad Kamath for initiating the process. It is generally acknowledged by many visitors that our temple is the most beautiful and unique in its cultural composition in all of southern Ontario. The addition of Lord Balaji will enhance the breadth of religious offering and highlight its cultural diversity. The temple will serve as the singular major religious center for Hindu community in the region. Since donations are the only source of income for our temple to function and thrive, we humbly request the devotees to please donate generously. Due to the pandemic, donations have been considerably low.
How you can help:
Contribute, Volunteer and Participate.
Thank you
Ramesh Panchal,
President (2021-2023).
